The River Bar & Grill opened in August 2006 in the Historic Old Haymarket building, on the corner of Haymarket St and Victoria St adjacent to the Birkenhead tunnel. It is a continental style operation, very modern with leather furniture, wooden floors, ash woodwork, spot lighting and a bright airy feel. It seats 45 inside and another 50 in the covered and heated patio. The al fresco dining area is one of the largest in Liverpool city centre and the car park opposite is free after 6pm.
The concept behind The River Bar & Grill is easy. Quality ingredients, cooked simply and enjoyed in a friendly and casual environment.
The River is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our menus have a modern European theme and to ensure the best quality we have built up solid relationships with many local producers and suppliers. The gourmet burgers and char grilled steaks are sourced from prime grass fed traceable stock, and are aged for 35 days. All dishes are freshly prepared from our daily deliveries from local suppliers.
The breakfast menu covers everything from Morning Pastries to a Full English, Steak & Eggs or even Smoked Haddock Eggs Benedict. Lunch can be as straight forward as Soup and a Steak Sandwich or as chic as Smoked Chicken, Mango and Blueberry Salad. Similarly evening diners can enjoy a casual sit and go dinner or a more hearty three course meal from our all-home-made menu. The River is fully licensed and offers a range of premium wines and beers to enjoy with your food or with friends on the terrace.
We aim to be a family friendly restaurant. Having three children ourselves we are aware of the fact that children do not always want to eat what is on a menu. So our chef will adapt any of our dishes to suit your child’s taste. We also have high chairs and baby changing facilities.
Those people dining at the weekend can also take advantage of the live entertainment at our sister restaurant The Haymarket Restaurant & Bar which is underneath The River Bar & Grill at 89 Victoria Street
